Dun dun daaa! This is my final post for the semester! how sad :( although I did have a lot of fun in this class and I am sad that it is over I am really looking forward to summer vacation to get my tan on. So lets just do an overall caption of what I learned in this class.

The first thing I learned was what colors go well together. We worked on focusing on simple colors and learning that less is more. Another thing we learned about was the type font Helvetica. I never knew you could write produce and direct a whole movie on a font. One more thing we learned before diving into our own designs was kerning. I never knew that such a thing existed and know that i do know it bothers the crap out of me! whenever I look at images now all I can think about if the spacing is correct. haha

Now we get to talk about all the fun stuff that I learned in this class! I never even knew what in-design was before taking this class and now that I do it has helped me a lot. I will defiantly be using it in the future to work on my PR campaigns and other things. I am also very happy that we got to learn how to use Photoshop and illustrator I never really knew how to use them before and I am glad that I took this class as it has taught me many valuable skills that I can use in my career.

Overall I can say that I really enjoyed this class and working on all the projects. I think it has really let me take advantage of my creative side and I know more now then I did before.

So with that being said this class was a blast and I look forward to seeing some of you in my classes in the fall! have a wonderful summer everyone!!!

Okay so for this post we are going to talk about the final project which was the tri-fold brochure that we had to do. So without further a-do here is my final product!

Just kidding so sad news is I do not have the final product saved as a jpeg so I will describe it to you and you can just use your imagination. Also if you are in my class you will see it anyways haha.

So my final brochure ended up being on how to ski in 4 easy steps. I went into adobe illustrator to make the background of both the front and inside page. With the inside pages I did a little ski guy skiing down a hill and he is seen in every fold. Then on the front I made the ski guy on the ski lift. On the front, back and inside flap he is seen on the ski lift. Lets talk about the front first. on the front I wrote "how to ski in 4 easy steps" in chalk duster font and aligned it left. Then I also threw a picture of real skis in on the side. Makes it look very professional. Next the first step I did was equipment. I even made a little equipment checklist that you can check off all the things you need before venturing off onto the mountain. The next step I did was on the inside flap and that was strapping up. In that step I describe how to put your ski's on. The third step which is the inside middle is the lift. Now the lift is the hardest part of skiing. In this section I went into detail of how to get on and off the lift because trust me you will need to know. The last step on the inside right page i did was step four. That step is actually skiing and how to get down the hill. The easiest technique that I know how to do is pizza, french fry. It is just how it sounds too. You put your skis in the shape of a pizza to go slow and in the shape of a french fry to go fast. I even provided you with a diagram at the bottom of the page. And finally on the back I put a map of my favorite mountain and the one I go to most Bristol mountain. I just thought it would be nice to incorporate a fake sponsor.

So that in a nutshell is my brochure . I wish I could of posted a picture but unfortunately I do not have it saved as a jpeg and it wont let me convert it on this computer.

So I will blog you next time for my last post!

Today we will go into the wonderful world of design and architecture! There are many amazing "designers" that have there work up for the rest of eternity. Lets take a look at some of these amazing and well known buildings so we can talk about there design.

A very historic landmark that I am sure everyone knows is the Eiffel tower in Paris, France. Just look at how well designed it is and how much work was put into it. Since it is located right in the heart of Paris it is a must see to any tourist. The overall structure of it though is really what catches the eye. From the arches at the bottom that form all the way to the top and how even it is, it truly is an amazing piece.

Another great historic landmark from around the world is the leaning tower of Pisa located in Pisa, Italy. Now this really is a unique piece of architecture. Why do you think the designer made it "tilt?" was it intended? was it an accident? did something hit it later on to make it tilt? who knows! I defiantly do not I just love this piece.  Plus one day I will eventually be one of those tourists who stands far away and gets the "look I am holding up the leaning tower of Pisa!"

Last but not least is the one and only statue of liberty that is right here! and by right here I mean an 8 hour drive from Buffalo to NYC. Now although this was a gift from France it was a great piece and just goes to show how many good designers are out there.

Overall there are so many great architectural pieces out there and I could talk for hours about every one. But since this is a blog I don't want to bore you to death. With that being said till next time!

So we are coming to an end I only have three more posts to do after this! holy poop! Building off of my last post I would like to take the time today to talk about social media and how it is influencing designers and the younger generation.

The first form of social media that is really "influencing" people to be a little more artsy is instagram. I think that instagram is a great tool for up and coming photographers or painters who want to get their work noticed. You can literally become "instagram famous" just by getting a bunch of followers. From a point of view of a designer that's amazing and like I said before a great way to get your work noticed.

Another app that is on the rise is vine. Vine is where you take a bunch of little videos and it makes them into a collage that you can upload right on your phone. This app would also be very good for artists or designers if they were to have an exhibit they would be able to show there followers and even people from across the country! or even the world!

Anyways those are just two examples of many forms of social media that is being used today. We cant forget Facebook or twitter. There are also smaller ones that are not as well known such as snap chat and another app called whisper.

In this day and age I would say that you MUST not only be able to understand these forms of media but you need to be proficient in them as well. With that being said till next time!

Ok so today we are going to take a blast from the past and compare advertisements from then and now. Lets take a look at a few of them!

This is a great example of how advertisements used to be. This is a basic color scheme with a powerful message. This ad went nation wide during the war. It was a very basic message to understand and with uncle sam pointing directly at you it made you feel like he had a connection with you. Like he wanted you specifically for the army. (obviously.) This poster is just a great example of how someone can get there message across so powerfully just by hanging a picture with words.

Today there is a sad fact of life. And thats that the internet is taking over the world. Nowadays we just do not see ads like they used to back in the day. I asked my friend today if he could think of a good poster ad that I could use for my blog and he could not think of anything.

So with the ever growing technology age I have to say that poster ad's are slowly dying. It is just much easier to look something up on the internet or put it on your website.

Till next time!

For this post we will be talking about another exercise. This exercise was replacing the head of Amelia Earhart on the picture of the first all women's space crew. This was another photoshop exercise and I was even more excited to learn this one. It will help me make cool photos and "illusion" photos. Anyways here is my final outcome:

Look at that! amazing I didnt know Amelia Earhart was there! haha. So overall I think this exercise was much easier to do then the human corpse. I am really proud of myself though and how realistic this looks. I think the hardest part of this exercise was trying to get the flag to match up. I didn't want the flag to look like it was fake or had been tampered with. The other thing that I struggled with was her neck. I was trying to get the head to line up as good as possible but it was very tough. There is a bit of a two tone difference in her neck due to the fact that I wanted to get rid of the scarf she was wearing in the picture that our lovely professor provided us with. The black and white spots on the neck just did not quite match up perfectly. Also her head looks a little big for her body. And like I was saying the neck looks weird. But I think for only my second or third time using photoshop I think I did a really good job.

I have to say while doing this project I did feel a little bad. We had to cut out that girls face in the picture to make it look like Amelia Earhart was actually there. That poor girl. Anyways overall I am happy that it looks somewhat realistic.

Anyways till next time!

Hello classmates and future designers! So this next post as you most likely guessed is about my third project the poster! At the beginning of this project I had a lot of trouble deciding what my topic was going to be. My mind was all over the place but I eventually decided on anti-authoratian. Oooo-Ahhhh.  I decided to pick this topic because it is something that almost everyone can relate to. At one point or another in your life you have said "forget the rules!" and tried to be a cool rebel or something. Don't lie. We ALL had that phase in our life. But anyways lets get back to whats important and thats the design of my poster.

Bam! look at that its my final poster. First things first lets talk about the "slogan". I decided to use these words because that way it gets you to think a little bit. Maybe the government isn't telling us everything.  Maybe everything that we have is actuality an illusion even though we think we are "free" maybe were not. Who knows. The mystery is what I was going for.

The next thing to talk about are the pictures. In the top left and the bottom left I used pictures of things that represent our supposed "freedom" such as The Bill Of Rights and the "justice" symbol. I thought it would be a great way to express what the government tells us. Next in the upper right hand corner there is a picture of drugs, money and a gun. I used this picture to represent the drug contra-band scandal with the CIA which I show a picture of in the lower right hand corner and how they are accused of bringing cocaine into the United States. The one in the middle on the bottom is of Richard Nixon and the watergate scandal. This one did happen back in the day but it is a great example of how you shouldn't always believe what you hear. The last picture is the one in the center of the eyes. I used this picture because it is a great way to show that even though you can see it, does it really happen? Just like  a magician with his tricks.

Someone in my class (sorry I dont remember your name!) said that this sort of looks like an old playbill too. Even though I did not intend for that to happen I am happy that it did. It really pulls the look together to give it that old timey feel.

Well that is all I have to say for this post so till next time!

Today we are going to talk about one of the exercises. This exercise taught me how to use photoshop! I was really excited to learn how to do this exercise because I have always wanted to learn how to use photoshop as I have no prior experience. What we had to do in this exercise was create a "human corpse" out of images that our text book provided us with.

Tada! This is my final product of the exercise. I think it came out pretty good considering I have never used photoshop before. The first thing I did when doing this exercise was lay out the hands in the background. You can not really see them in this pic but there are hands touching in the background in blue I assure you. I had to line the hands up so it looked like they were touching then i changed the opacity of one of the hands so it gave the illusion that you could see through it. Then I changed the hue to a nice blue just like they did in the book.

After that I imported all of the pics and arranged them in a way that was closest to an actually human body. Then I changed the opacity and hue to an orangey yellow and there you have my finished product.

Overall I had a lot of fun on this exercise! It taught me a lot of cool skills that I used in my poster project.  So you can only guess what my next post is going to be about.  Anyways I  like the presentation of how this exercise came out. So with that till next time!

Alright this might be somewhat of a blog blast so bare with me folks. In this post I am going to talk about our last project, my magazine layout! I think everyone in my class did a great job and had some sweet magazines! But now you all get to be the judge of mine!

Tada! My final project. I know you guys can not see the text but that doesn't matter. Overall I think my project came out well. The presentation is nice and everything is aligned and there are no orphans or dangles. Although I am happy that it came out neat and tidy I wish I had done some cooler stuff and done a two page layout instead of a one page layout. I could have done some crazy cool design but instead I stuck to the boring route. Now I am not saying I hate my final product because I don't I definitely think I would read it if it were presented to me in a magazine layout. I just feel like there is something missing and it could have been improved somehow. Unfortunately I had a MASSIVE and when I say that I mean HUGE brain fart. I just ran out of ideas. I really tried to brainstorm before the due date but I just could not think of anything else that I should add to change the layout without ruining my overall design.

So there is good and bad with everything. The good is that it is really neat and readable. Yay! But it is not as exciting as some of my peers designs. And thats bad. Boo.  I think that this assignment was not the most fun because we didnt have as much creative control as I would usually like. I know that this might be what I am given some day by a client but it was not my favorite assignment.

Anywho thats all I have for you for this post, so till next time!

Long time no blog! So over spring break I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Florida! Not only did I go to Florida but I went to Universal Studios! IT WAS AMAZING. Especially since I am a huge potterhead I got to experience the one and only harry potter world! It was so fun! I actually felt like I was in hogsmeade and I drank so much butter beer it was so good! (non-alcoholic of course). Anyways you are probably wondering what it has to do with communication graphics? well that has nothing to do with it but I also went on a ride at Universal for the movie Despicable Me. If you have not seen it I highly suggest that you go see it! It is adorable and hilarious!!! But while waiting in line for the ride I noticed several posters and there design for this specific ride so lets take a look at a few!

So this is the first "poster" that I saw and I thought it was the coolest thing! It shows you what a minion is made of and how they are designed. Its basically the blue print to creating the perfect minion. I thought it was done very well and you can even see in the lower right hand corner guru's signature.

The second poster I saw was very simple but visually appealing to me. The reason it says "join us" is because in this ride you become a minion. I think it is adorable and perfect for the audience they are trying to reach for the people waiting in line. They wanted to make it fun and nice to look at. Also if you notice they used the basic color scheme! Red, yellow and blue are all there.

So that is all I have for this post! Basically vacation was awesome and thanks to this class I payed attention to the little details such as the colors, kerning and the overall design of posters while waiting in line for some totally awesome rides! Till next time!

Okay so this is the last post that you will see from me for today, I promise. Lets start talking about what ideas I have for my next project.

Here is the example that we were giving for what our final project is to look like for this project. So I think for one of my images that I will include is the color wheel. I was thinking about putting it off to the side and having some text wrapped around it. I thought that this would be useful in the fact that the whole article is about the psychology of color. Like thats the title so of course I am going to have a color wheel thrown in there somewhere! Another cool design element I was think about doing was just sticking to the three basic colors. yellow, red and blue. I say this because within the first paragraph of the article that we will be designing on is the McDonald's colors which are red and yellow. The reason I want to throw Blue in there as well is so that people don't feel rushed like they do at McDonalds. Also looking back to my post about magazines, I might try to change things up a bit and wrap the text in a different way then everyone else. Maybe I will even do a black background. I have a couple ideas in mind but I have no idea what I am going to do yet.

To wrap things up I am very excited to start working on this next project. It should be really fun to design a magazine layout. Maybe someday I will actually be working for the national geographic and have to design a layout of my own for one of their spreads with a fantastic article that will be featured on the cover about my journey around the world. Like I said maybe...in another world haha. But none the less I am excited for this project and cant wait to get started! Till next time!

The American Psycho Business card scene. After watching that a few classes ago it was hilarious! I wanted to talk about it for a few moments today in my blog post. First things first when he whipped out his business card and thought it was the best thing ever with the fonts and the colors. Priceless. I think I literally laughed out loud at how funny it was. He thought he was the coolest kid in school with his new business card. But then suddenly BAM someone else pulls out one of their business cards! To me it looked almost identical but to him no way jose! He had a better card with improved font and everything! Then they went down the line as each one of them had whipped out business cards! Lets compare these business cards that were presented in the movie.

Now I know what you are all thinking. Probably the same thing as me that they look almost identical! Its crazy how those business cards are portrayed in that movie. So lets take a look at some real life business cards and see how they compare with fonts!

These are real life business card that Shannon P and I received at Buffalo States PRSSA a night with the PRofessionals. You can see that each business used very different font types and color schemes but they all stayed with the same professional white background. Lets talk about the first one. The is a business card for Buzz Records. They are a local record agency and as you can see they use some pretty crazy font! But it makes sense since they are targeting a certain audience. The one underneath that is for Uniland. It is another local business. As you can see in that one they are trying to be a little more bold by using the blue color type font. Finally the last one is for a marketing professional who works for First Niagara Bank. That is one of the simplest ones since they are such a well known organization.

To wrap things up for this post when we watched that scene from american pyscho it really got me thinking of how different corporations target different people. The simpliest way to do that is to chose an approiate font!

This post is going to be about the magazine layout spread that we are suppose to right about in our blogs for homework so I hope this counts as one of the 10 posts we are suppose to have up before midterms come! Any ways Im sure you can all guess what magazine I chose to write about. The national geographic! I chose this because it talks about issues all over the world and has some pretty sweet magazine layouts.

The first magazine layout that I looked at was about geologists and mars. It talks about the research and other up an coming things with mars and its developments. I found this article interesting in its layout because it used a black background and white text with mars in the background. I thought this was very well put together and that the layout was done well since they were relating everything in the article back to outer space. What caught my eye in this article was the giant picture of mars in the background. I might keep that in mind for my next project. Do some fading effects or something like that.

The next magazine layout I looked out was one that talked about a historical dam looked in good old america in Missouri. It used to be a native land where they have been digging up old native american tools and various other things that have been very helpful. This layout I thought was put together a little better then the one before it. The white background will always be my go to for magazine layouts. They wrapped the text around the pictures very nicely and it is well presented. I liked how they threw more then one big picture in the article they had a few little ones in their which really made you feel like you were at the site.

The last article I found was one about buddhists and their beliefs. I believe this layout was put together well and has one main picture to focus on along with the words wrapped around it which is nice. Although I did like the multiple pictures in the article before I also enjoy just the one big picture to focus on.

To wrap things up I believe that all of these articles where well put together even though I like some more then others. Overall I think I found some very good articles. Till next time!

Ok so since in the last post I talked about my first project guess what I am going to talk about in this post? Exercise #1! I will show you the picture we had to base it off and my final copy of what I interpreted this guy to look like!

Tada! there is the picture that we had to interpret into our own by only using the rectangle tool in Adobe Illustrator. This picture kind of creeps me out to be honest. I feel like he is looking into my soul searching for the answers of why he was painted in such an odd fashion. Well now lets take a look at my interpretation of this creepy and unsettling painting!

Bam! thats my final interpretation of the painting. I think mine turned out to be a little happier since the colors that I used were a little brighter. Lets start off with the head and the body. I tried to stick as close as I possibly could to the colors of what was portrayed. I also added in the reddish hair along with the red wrinkles that are going across his forehead. I think it adds a nice touch. I also tried to portion the sizes as close to the real thing as I could. This part was a little difficult since I did not have a tape measurer to my advantage. All I had was the picture to look at and my rectangle tool. The last thing I want to point out that I did was accent some of the red lines around the image of his body and the random blue spot that I saw. The blue spot stood out to me the most because it was so random and a little brighter then the rest of the colors in the painting. Maybe that blue spot represented hope for a better future for all of the lost souls.

To wrap things up I had a lot of fun doing this assignment. It was simple and let me interpret a painting the way I saw it. Till next time!

Everyone I would like to apologize right now for my mass posting today but hey I gotta do what I gotta do to try and get that 4.0 this semester! anyone else with me? Well anyways today I will be talking about dun dun daaaaa my first project! (and this one includes a picture!)

Okay so I made this picture really big so you get the full effect of my amazing initials and introspective project. First things first lets talk about color. I chose orange and black because they are my favorite colors and coincidently enough they are also the schools colors! talk about dumb luck. Any who I also chose pink as the border because it goes very well with orange and brings the whole project together. Lets start with the first bubble that has my family. I chose to put my mom, dad and brother on here because they are very important to me. They are my family there always going to be with me no matter what I do. The next two bubbles are just random words, literally the word random is there haha, that other people use to describe me. The next big bubble is also random words but focused a little bit on my friends. I like throwing fun surprise parties for my friends. The one after that is outdoor activities that I enjoy doing. One day I hope to move to Colorado to be able to enjoy the beautiful west. The next one includes my boyfriend and my best friends. My boyfriend and friends are also very important to me because they make my life fun and interesting. The next one is amusement parks. I LOVE amusement parks if I could live at one I would! Motivated is my next bubble and that one goes hand in hand with corporate communications. I am motivated to get a job in corporate communications by getting my bachelors here at buffalo state. I mean I am graduating in three years instead of four. The next bubble is a quote from big bang theory because I love that show and I can relate to it since I myself am a dork. The one to the bottom of left of that bubble was literally one of the hardest bubbles and took me forever to do. I love the way it came out though with some of the places I hope to travel to someday. My dream in life is to see the world one way or another. I have a bunch of little bubbles all around too that say more random words like adventure, skiing and the types of music I like which are pop, punk and rock. The last bubble (finally!) is a quote that is very important to me. I am literally obsessed with the show Doctor Who. That quote just seems so genuine even though it is from a TV show but I was bawling my eyes out when the doctor said it. Favorite quote ever.

So to wrap things up that is why my first project included all of that mumbo jumbo. It also has my initials thrown in there since well that was a part of the grading curriculum. anyways I am excited for the next project and cant wait to see what everyone does with it! Till next Time!

Today I will be discussing all of the wonderful collages that we had to make a few weeks back for homework! First I would like to say that everyone did a fantastic job on there collages and they looked pretty cool. This hands down was one of the best and easiest homework assignments that I have ever had to do. I actually had fun doing my homework for once! (Surprising I know :P). I do not want to talk about anyone else's collage on here because I want them to talk about it themselves in their blogs! really guys let me hear your thoughts! But lets start out with what I did for my collage.

So unfortunately for this I do not have a picture but on account that the majority of you saw it you just need to use your imagination! But I will describe it a little bit incase you were not there that day. It was one of the biggest collages in the class on poster board. It had little bits of information floating all around but at the very bottom were my initials. I wanted them to be large and in charge of the collage. Almost like they were the base of everything that I like to do. Above that I had the american eagle logo as the focal point for my collage. I know we were told several times to try and not use images but I just could not help myself. I am in love with american eagle. Like everything that I own is from that store. Since that is where the majority of my clothes came from off of that I cut out a ton of different words that I would use to describe myself. Some of the words were cool, fun, party and eyes. Just simple easy words that took me literally forever to find to cut out of the magazine. Anyways a lot of people said that my collage was very grid like and that is a GREAT thing for me. That is exactly what I was going for on this project. The majority of my projects that I will be doing from now on will probably look very structured. I have always loved that clean structured look.

To wrap things up overall I ended up really loving how my final collage came out. I was very inspired by everyone else's collages as well for my first project. Sorry about the lack of pictures for this post folks but dont worry there will be plenty next time! Peace!

For this post I figured we should talk about something very important that I have not yet posted about and that is (Drum Roll Please!!!) ...... The Principles of design! We even had a presentation in class about it and I have just completely forgot to talk about it! These are obviously the basics but also some of the most important elements that we shouldn't forget. I will be pulling the examples right out of the presentation that is posted oh so kindly in the mothership blog!

Starting off with Line. As you can see line is a very important element to design. It adds structure as well as gives you a sense of were you are or even how you are feeling. In this particular photo I feel as if I am in a quite little town on a Sunday afternoon. It is a very peaceful image and does not make me angry, just a feeling of pure happiness.

Next is shape. Again this makes things feel more realistic and gives them a sense of purpose. To me this looks like two lemons on top of a hat. It could also be a ring on a ring stand that you would see in the store. Thats just my interpretation of it and I dont even know if that is right! But beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess!

Next is form. Form is more so important in actual paintings then when using indesign. But Alas! Do not be fooled by that because form is also a very important aspect when deigning anything. Form can be used in several different ways to put things together or even make something a little more organized.

Color is another important element that is stressed a lot in this class! This is an excellent portrayal of the color scheme and it also uses a limited pallet. Color is very important because you do not want to much color or it can be overbearing that is way less is more.

Last but not least is texture. Texture can really make or break a photo or a design. It brings everything together and sometimes makes it pop off the page!

To wrap things up we went over the five elements design which are very important to anyone who will ever design a project. It is of the most importance to never forget these key items! till next time!

Long time no post! Today I will be talking all about the wonderful world of Helvetica. Let me see where to start with this movie since there was so much that was talked about. I want to start off with one of the presenters in this movie. I did not catch his name but he was from a long line of typographers.

There he is! (I think thats him at least ) I found it interesting that he came from such a long line of typographers and found it cool that he carried on his families profession. That was one of my favorite presenters in the movie. Overall what I found most interesting is how often Helvetica is used. I bet we can relate this back to my worldly adventures so lets find out what other countries use Helvetica!

There is Helvetica again but its in Thai! It really is interesting to see how many different countries use Helvetica even when written in different languages. Lets take a look at one more country that uses this font type!

I dont know if you know this but its good ol' Britain! The UK is a user of this typeface that we have learned to grow and love here in America as well.

To wrap things up overall Helvetica was pretty cool when it showed the examples of the way the typeface is used in different countries. It was also cool how they had life long typographers as some of the main presenters. Blog you later! (Haha its punny!)

Traveling is a huge part of my life. I have not made it out of the country yet but I plan to eventually! My dream job is to become a documentary film maker who can travel all over the world and make films. I believe that this relates back to graphic design a lot. Every country is different and has different ideas of what advertisements and films should look like. I also would not want to offend anyone in another country by making a film that goes against their beliefs or culture. Let us compare and contrast some ads from all over the world!

This is a new ad that was just released in India. It is for Nikimal which is an Indian based company that sells furniture.  At the very bottom if you can see the symbol for Nikimal this really caught my eye because of the type of font they used and how well it was kerned. It is very neat and precise to show that they are a very organized company even if their customers need some crazy furniture for different things. That is showed in them using a circus who would buy their furniture.

This is in Osaka, Japan. As you can see their style of advertisement is much different then our own. They are much more cartoon in everything they do. The are also very colorful. Even though these ads are in Japanese you can tell that the designers in japan were also kerning. The letters are very well spaced and make for a nice design.

There are many things all around the world that are very similar and very different to what we do here in America. We can see even in different countries they are worried about what type of font to use and kerning. When I eventually make it outside of this country I will sure be on the look out for what ads use what fonts and how well kerned they are!

Why is it important for communication majors to study design?

Design is something that is seen and used in everyday life. Communication majors especially should study it since the majority of us will be going into advertising or another related field.

Lets take times square as an example. You are seeing hundreds of ad's just in mere minutes by being there. How do you think people made those ads? Most of them probably come from a background with design. Many people who are going into the communication field will be exposed to thousands of these ads everyday. If you are going to be a Public Relations specialist, then I believe this should be one of the most important things to you! You are the one who is going to be deciding which ad is to be published to best represent your company. Coming from a background where you have experience in the design field could greatly benefit you in your future career.

Why does good design matter?

Saying good design does not matter is like saying you would not care if you got crappy food in a restaurant. Good design matters because it appeals to people. Let us compare and contrast a good advertisement with a bad one.

If you take the design on the left there is just way to much going on. You have several different colors and pieces that make it hard to focus on the thing you are selling which is Schweppes. On the right we have an ad for pepsi max which has a limited color pallet and makes it easy to focus on the thing that you are trying to sell. Good design matters so that people will know what point you are trying to get across when it comes to advertisements. It also matters because who wants to see something bad when when you can get something good.

What do you like about this piece?

My favorite type of artwork is steampunk. I think they have a cool olden days type vibe that is edgy. I will show you one of my favorite steampunk abstract paintings:

This piece is called "The golden sun" and was created by Matthew Hamblen. I love how artistic it is and the color pallet that was used. I think this is a good design because it is beautifully done. It is a magnificent idea and was put together very well. The colors that he used compliment each other and they really express his idea on "The golden sun".

To wrap things up I look forward to this class and everything it will offer me. It seems like we will be doing a lot of fun projects and everyone in the class seems to be enthusiastic about it! Till next time!
